I found someone that thinks like me. I completely agree with your ideas. One thing that I have always thought about the Christian God is that they copied him from the god Zeus. We have to remember that Christianity was not started by Jesus and that Jesus did warn us of false religions and antichrists that will fool even his followers from listening to him and men will turn to listen to one another and their rumors instead. Christianity was started by his followers and the people that followed his followers and so on, until it wasn't pure anymore- it was based on rumors. Some rumors are true and some are false. But most people want to believe everything they hear especially if there is the threat of death or hell. And then the religion was further corrupted by the Romans with Constantine. Then it fanned out into art protraying God as a certain white bearded man seated on clouds just like ancient Rome protrayed Zeus. Then King James decided to rewrite the Bible and distribute this "new" religion of his one God. Coincidence? I think not. All of our holidays are Christinized pagan holidays, even Christmas. I don't think it's bad. Just that people think they are following the right religion, when there never has been a right religion, or even uncorrupt religion. I say, follow your heart and listen to the voices in your head. Be open to light and listen with your soul and see with your third eye. Don't trust books. Trust yourself. "Be yea perfect even as your father in heaven is perfect." The thing that stands between us and perfection are our habits. I have found that I can reprogram myself and thus change my habits. I have not yet reached perfection myself, but I have come a very long way towards that perfection and am able to deal in a loving way with so much more than the average person can. (Not meant as a judgment, but as an observable fact.) Our imperfections are of a limited nature...we will eventually run out of them if we continue to reprogram ourselves. It is not difficult for me to love my neighbor as much as I love myself. It used to be, but it is not any longer. The reason is that as I have cleaned up my habits of thought (which affects my behaviors) I have been gifted with greater levels of awareness and ability to love my neighbor much more whole heartedly. I encourage all people to strive for perfection, to not judge themselves or others for not being there, but to take each mistake and use it as the next place for their own personal reprogramming efforts. I have studied many religions and their teachings and I am still a Christian not so much for the "promise" but for the teaching that Christ gave to His followers. The message is important. All of the other trimming, the theology, the "proof" is unimportant because it is in His teaching, His words that I am attracted. I know I can never be perfect, but I can be better.....a little better each day. I can tweak my soul and move closer to the message, but I have to know the message and listen to the lesson. If someone tries to prove Christ to me, tries to put Christianity into a box, then they have "lost" me because for me, they have missed the point. Love your neighbor as much as yourself (that's is much harder than it sounds) and Love God .......2 commandments....that's all. I have a hard time accepting that one faith is right and the others are wrong. I've been called a relevantist more than once among other things, but all of the monotheistic faiths are largely based on sacred texts and there is always the capacity for human error in writing and translation. I find it hard to believe that God will condemn faithful Hindus, Muslims, Jews, even those who embrace the pagan faiths to hell. Jesus speaks to me, not literally, but I do know that he reaches out to me. Yet I've read the writings of the Norse who followed many gods and I know there is a revival of Germanic paganism. Many of the ideas are comparative. In short, God is ineffable and there is much we cannot know. I can handle that. Life is complicated. But a lot of people need blueprints or they cannot survive life. I tend to think they cause more harm than good when it comes to spiritual truth and light.
