Child Molesters and Rapists are in a Category of Their Own
I wrote a blog called Drug Addicts, Prostitutes, Child Molesters, Liars & Cheaters…are They the Scum of the Earth? I got a LOT of comments about Child Molesters being in a category of their own. In this blog I want to address this issue in a way that will make logical as well as emotional sense to you. When it comes to the effect these people have on our lives, I too believe they are in a category of their own. Unless we do something very practical about them it is only going to get worse.
Here are just some of the comments made by some of my friends (on MySpace)…
Montserrat~ Sacred Feminine Art
“I am not sure how much I agree with you bunching up together “child molesters” with “liars” and “drug addicts”…I am sure you realize there is a huge difference between them…HOWEVER, child molesters have NO ROOM in this planet. Can you please explain why would you compare a liar or cheater to a child molester?”
Asterope Morgaine {PriestessRising.com}
“Michael you know I love you to pieces, and think you’re extremely intelligent and wise…But- I can’t believe you would classify drug addicts & prostitutes in the same category as child molesters! Michael I’m really, really disappointed. Having to sell yourself for money is completely different from molesting a child…You can’t even compare.”
Om Jyotish Astrological Services
“I agree with others’ assessment on this child molester issue…The degree and severity of the action trumps the others at least one hundred fold. To put the argument that society should have a vested interest in rehabilitating a child molester is valid - I don’t think they should be camped away in some dark dungeon for the rest of their lives.“When one chooses certain actions, the reactions or consequences of those actions are not the victim’s - they are the perpetrator’s. When one abuses a child, it is not the child that punishes the molester, it is the molester’s own actions which come back to haunt him…they still must face the consequence of their actions. Don’t neglect this point Michael. If you do, you’re not being honest with yourself, or others.”
I have removed some of their actual comments to keep this blog short. To read their full comments please visit my blog Drug Addicts, Prostitutes, Child Molesters, Liars & Cheaters…are They the Scum of the Earth.
I appreciate everyone who commented on this issue. I felt your comments were all genuine, respectful and well meaning (especially if you view the full text of their comments.) However I can see there is much missing in the understanding of the general public on this issue.
This really becomes an issue of do you want to keep shooting yourself in the foot or are you ready to throw your guns away? You have two choices…which one do you choose?
(I made a very significant case for what we as a society are doing wrong and the approach we need to take to get it right in this blog. I spelled it out clearly…however I had to remove that information due to the reasons stated below.)
“Sorry, Michael, have a real problem withholding judgment with regard to child molesters. You honestly cannot place them into the same genre as drug addicts and prostitutes. Apples and oranges.Walk in the shoes of a parent for just a moment. Your daughter is molested, maybe raped, possibly killed, by a grown man. Your daughter is 4. Say your daughter survives the molestation and it does not go beyond that. The man is captured. The whole thing goes to court.
How can a person honestly set aside all anger, hatred, and even judgment in the face of the horrific act done to an innocent child?”
(There WAS much more to this blog but it has been removed…
see details below)

Unfortunately I had to remove the content of most of my blogs for the reason stated further below. You can continue reading my blogs by joining my relationship healing group, the details of which you can find at http://RelationshipAdviceSite.com
By joining my healing group you will get…
- The Ultimate Guide to Relationship Healing a four hour Audio Program.
- All of my blogs.
- MANY hours of additional Audio programs.
- Live Tele-Classes given by me where you will have the opportunity to ask your own specific questions.
- Access to my coaching via email just like you have seen in my blogs on MySpace.
Why did I Remove my Blog Content from MySpace & gr8Wisdom.com?
I spent more than a year doing free spiritual and relationship counseling on MySpace. If you review the comments on my blogs (which I have left intact for you to review) you can see that I have spent a great deal of time, covered a lot of topics, AND A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE HELPED BY MY ADVICE. I have really enjoyed it and thank all of you who have participated. Many of my friends have touched my heart very deeply. I love you all!
Unfortunately doing it for free has resulted in me not being able to write new blogs or serve as many people as I would like too. Doing it for free has caused me to maintain a fulltime job with not enough time to coach those people who want and need the help I have to offer. By charging for my services I will eventually be able to quit my job and do my spiritual counseling work full time.
My blogs really do contain all you need to know in order to live a healthy and happy life and the live coaching I offer in the healing group fills in the gaps. Please consider joining this group today. http://RelationshipAdviceSite.com

You are a very brave person. It is obvious that even your friends think you are a little strange when it comes to this category of child molestation. But the principle either works or it doesn’t. If it works up to a point but then it doesn’t, it doesn’t work at all. Obviously if someone is out in society doing damage to children or adults they need to be removed from society, maybe for a short time, maybe forever. But they don’t have to be hated. Part of the problem in my opinion is about definitions of God, love, forgiveness etc. Those words have become almost stereotyped and sometimes people can think they are talking about the same thing when they are not even close. (That’s an entire other discussion.) I believe there is a mystery to this life that transcends anything we can come up with. God is love. God doesn’t love. God is love. I believe we spring from this “sea” of love and that no matter what we do or how we behave, that somewhere in the essence of who we are, that love is part of us like the ocean is part of the wave as Eric Butterworth said. Who are we to judge even the worst criminals’ essence? We have every right to remove them from society. But to judge them? I don’t think so. Bravo to your spirit.

What a refreshing read! Whilst, I do not agree with everything you say I do agree with your overall message and I think you are very brave to say such things.
In my opinion you are the person that you are based on genetics and experience. Our history (dare I say evolution?) has taught us to be cautious of things we do not understand, to fear things that threaten our safety and to remove danger from our lives so I think this is why we perhaps naturally judge others and seek the death sentence for child molesters.
I think it is entirely appropriate to consider punishing and killing those who hurt the people that we love and care about but this should always be balanced with care and understanding. With different genetics and experience who knows what person we may have become? Maybe we might have been a child molester, drug addict, prostitute, politician or suicide bomber? Unfortunately our “civilization” has developed out of balance and now I am concerned for my children that they will live in a world where violence and fear have taken over.

While I appreciate your comment BrainMenu, I maintain that our “civilization” has developed out of balance for precisely the reason that we do have a torture, revenge and punish mentality to deal with some of our population while another segment of our population are completely immune to accountability for their actions..anyone care to guess which segment is immune? If you don’t know, then you are getting your news from the wrong sources. Turn off the TV!
